| I just got an SX-64, and it powers up, the drive spins continuously and the light remains on. It didn't have a keyboard cable, but I got a DB-25 cable (straight thru female to female) from Radio Shack that worked. I just had to trim the plastic housing to fit it into the SX-64 chassis. The keyboard end might need to be able to be screwed into the keyboard housing to make it more secure. I don't really want to do this, but maybe I can fasten a couple of those tiny nuts to the inside of the case to screw the cable into. My SX-64 monitor apparenty doesn't like to work properly until it gets warmed up, I guess this might have something to do with its age. I tried removing and replacing the chips on the FDD controller board to no avail, even one of the 6522 chips had two pins that weren't even in the socket, I thought this was the "silver bullet" to fixing the drive woes. Even the header sockets on the I/O board were reversed!!! Could this have "blown" something out? |
